LET’S MOVE TOWARDS BETTER SCHOOL LUNCHES
By Isaac Bynum
Have you heard about the new school lunch policy that
was enforced in our country? How they abducted our delicious snacks and filled
them with healthy “treats”. They say healthy school lunches have a better
effect on our students; but I think it may have gotten worse. “It’s not just my
opinion but Senior Miles McCollum exclaimed, I don’t like school lunch simply
because of the “modification” that they’ve seem to apply to very edible item on
campus. I feel like as if the youth should have the freedom to make their own
choice appose to what they want to eat”. There are ups and downs with healthy
school lunches, good aspects that are being healthy and not including a lot of
sugar; but there are also downs such as the price. According to the Harvard
T.H. Chan School of Public Health “eating healthy vs. unhealthy cost about
$1.50 more per day”. Students sometimes don’t have the money to pay for lunch
so they used to go to the vending machine for the cost to be lower. Statistics
have shown that healthy foods can be more expensive to be purchased then
delicate foods. Bringing healthy foods has been shown to be more of a negative
impact then a positive one because of its high cost. BRING OUR SNACKS BACK!
