PEBBLEBROOK SIGNEE

Ty Hudson signs with Clemson

Senior Ty Hudson signed for a full ride scholarship with Clemson University, located in South Carolina. Ty Hudson is a well-established basketball player and has demonstrated great sportsmanship. Ty Hudson played mainly point guard; but he switched from time to time to the shooting guard position. Ty Hudson exclaimed, “I feel like I had a pretty good season, I led my team to a state championship. I feel as a team it couldn’t have gotten any better. Everyone knows their role and they played it well!” I asked Ty why he selected to proceed on to Clemson University and he proclaimed, “Its closer to home, its ACC basketball, the coaches and the athletes, the atmosphere, and they have my major!”
Good luck Ty! We hope you have a successful journey on your way to the top!
Go Falcons!!!

The After Life

The After Life

Jaylene Taylor
Eventually, everyone dies, so at some point, most people wonder where they would go Hell or Heaven. Are we really chosen to go up or down by the way we choose to live or the decisions we make? Is there really a need to make a choice of who goes where? Heaven as we may know is a dream of imagination in which our love ones dwell on telling us not to go into the light. Hell as we know is a fire pit of lost souls.

In the poem "Dante’s Inferno" & the movie "What Dreams May Come" they both have guides. In the Inferno Dante has   Virgil, a poet from the Roman times and Chris has Albert who is really his son Ian.  Ian chooses to be Albert because in in life, Albert was the only person that Chris listened to.

Like the Inferno, What Dreams May Come portrays hell as a place not of fire but of solitude was all you can think about is what you did to get there. Think    of the levels of that where portrayed in Dante’s Inferno. Chris  wife was sent to hell because she committed suicide, as stated in the inferno she should be placed in circle 7.But in where dreams may come she was placed in a black in white setting of her home in things she loved. Neither has a fire for those who committed suicide.

Hell in back we shall go. Another similarity is that the main characters in both went to hell in back. Dante was basically already there trying to get his life together, but Chris went to save his beloved wife Annie who killed herself because she's lost everyone she ever loved. Then people don’t both that no one has ever came back from the gloomy place of hell.

In conclusion there are many ways this poem and movie are alike to each other. There are different views of hell & heaven, but it’s up to you to choose which you shall depart to in the afterlife. Up or Down your choice!

Saying Our Goodbyes

Mohammed Azeez,

Pebblebrook High School

A leader can be found anywhere, but one must learn to follow before they can lead.
Ms. Zinta Perkins came to Pebblebrook in 2009 with a vision to change the reputation of the school. Ms. Perkins worked in the Cobb county district for over 35 years. She did not start out as a principal; she was actually an art teacher.

Ms. Perkins started her career at Wills High School as the first African American teacher to be hired at the school. Her father and her grandfather were also principals; so leading was in her blood. Mrs. Perkins was able to lead for the first time at Campbell High School.

Ms. Perkins coming to Pebblebrook was a surprising motion, due to the teachers only being notified of the change a week before her arrival. There were clear changes and improvements Ms. Perkin’s vision had brought. Some might say that there is a unification of Pebblebrook due to Ms. Perkins; there was a distinction in students as of who were part of the magnet program and those who were not. But now in 2015 there are a more cohesive all through out, due to the lack of behavior problems and inappropriate activities. There are obvious consequences for such actions and now are more consistent. Not only that but student population has increased, and it feels like more of community at Pebblebrook.

Ms. Perkins brought not only professionalism to her job ethic, but she was passionate of her work and going beyond the call of duty. She raised teacher moral and listened to each and everyone. One would expect a principal to be stuck behind a desk all day signing papers. But Mrs. Perkins interacts with almost every student; she goes into classes and talks with students and teachers. She is truly what a leader is. As a senior myself, I am glad that I spent my four years here and ecstatic to shake Ms. Perkins hand when I receive my diploma. My experience and the experience of every senior would not be the same without Mrs. Perkins leadership. Without Ms. Perkins most teachers would not have a job or receive the opportunity to teach.“ Ms. Perkins is the only principal is the only principal; I’ve ever worked for. I appreciate her attention to detail and ability to lead such a large staff, She has truly been a guiding force for the school and will be missed” exclaimed Lauren Forbes. Mrs. Forbes and other teachers are glad to have Ms. Perkins as their boss.

Every year, every senior wonders what legacy they had left behind at Pebblebrook, Ms. Perkins left her legacy in all those young scholars that graduated in her leadership. The amount of Professionalism and respect that Ms. Perkins has brought to Pebblebrook and it’s teacher is unimaginable. After each year Ms. Perkins raised the bar, and I hope that faculty of Pebblebrook and the next Principal raise the bar of the esteem, and achievements of this school as Ms. Perkins has done.

LETS MOVE TOWARDS BETTER SCHOOL LUNCHES

LET’S MOVE TOWARDS BETTER SCHOOL LUNCHES

By Isaac Bynum

Have you heard about the new school lunch policy that was enforced in our country? How they abducted our delicious snacks and filled them with healthy “treats”. They say healthy school lunches have a better effect on our students; but I think it may have gotten worse. “It’s not just my opinion but Senior Miles McCollum exclaimed, I don’t like school lunch simply because of the “modification” that they’ve seem to apply to very edible item on campus. I feel like as if the youth should have the freedom to make their own choice appose to what they want to eat”. There are ups and downs with healthy school lunches, good aspects that are being healthy and not including a lot of sugar; but there are also downs such as the price. According to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health “eating healthy vs. unhealthy cost about $1.50 more per day”. Students sometimes don’t have the money to pay for lunch so they used to go to the vending machine for the cost to be lower. Statistics have shown that healthy foods can be more expensive to be purchased then delicate foods. Bringing healthy foods has been shown to be more of a negative impact then a positive one because of its high cost. BRING OUR SNACKS BACK!
